Nicholls State University, founded in 1948, is a public, comprehensive university. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, University College, and the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute. Its 210-acre campus, formerly part of the historic Acadia Plantation, is located within the Mississippi River Valley, in Thibodaux.
